Tom G. of Winnipeg Canada
at 7th Capitol Jamboree
Olympia, Washington ~ 1998
16 Tracks ~ 79 Minutes

Tom is an old-timer with over 47 years in AA.~
A veteran General Service Conference delegate part of the talk is about his involvement with AA Service work.~
He knew Bill Wilson and talks about his experiences with him at conferences and other AA functions.~
Not a drunkalogue he talks mainly about his life in sobriety.
He briefly talks about his drinking and an experience with another AA member at one of his first meetings.
So your a lawyer the AA member said Well we’ve had plenty of lawyers here and none of them ever had the sense to stay sober.~
He stayed sober just to show that guy.~
How in his early years he stayed sober by staying busy in AA Service, but this left him feeling rather dry.~
Following this period in his life he got into the steps and found great spiritual fulfillment in working the program as it’s laid out in the Big Book.~
He helped found a Big Book Meeting. He describes it’s format and some of it’s practices.~
He talks about his family. How his daughter found recovery.
How his formerly least favorite son-in-law (described as a snobby type of drunk who studied art at Sorbonne (France)) also got sober and asked him to be his sponsor. He said YES and said to himself I can’t wait till we get to step 4.~
A very enjoyable talk in an all around sense. He has a calm conversational style; much of what says would easily fit into a typical conversation. ~
