Talks About Alcoholism and Tells Her Story
Marty Mann was a very early AA member generally acknowledged as the first woman to achieve lasting sobriety in AA.
She was one of the founders of the AA GRAPEVIVE and wrote the Big Book Story WOMEN SUFFER TOO.
She founded the National Council on Alcoholism and was instrumental in changing our societies attitudes and opinions about Alcoholism and Alcoholics.
In this recording she talks about her life as an active alcoholic. How in the beginning ALCOHOL WAS MAGIC FOR ME, but when about 27 years of age she began to suffer from blackouts and to lose friends due to drinking.
How she sought cures etc.
How she was introduced to AA by Dr.Harry Tiebout and attended meetings at Bill Wilson’s home at 82 Clinton St Brooklyn.
She tells the story of her hitting bottom under Dr Tiebout’s care and her experiences as an early AA.
About getting a multi-lith copy of the original manuscript, her friend Grennie, and going to her first meeting(at Bill and Lois Wilson’s Brooklyn,NY home).
An Excellent talk by this remarkable woman.
