Description

Two Very Very Early California AA Members at Same Event
Cliff Walker of Los Angeles, CA and Al Marineaux of Hollywood, CA
at Berkeley, California ~ October 15, 1963
Good Sound Quality ~ Great Talks

Cliff Walker of Los Angeles, CA

Al Marineaux of Hollywood, CA

Both Cliff Walker and Al Marineaux were in the original AA Group formed by Mort Joseph and Kay Miller.
They were part of the Big Meetings prior to World War 2 era gasoline rationing which is credited with spreading AA groups around southern California. Aas started new groups when they could no longer get enough gasoline to travel to what had been a large meeting numbering in the hundreds.
They each tell their story. Al has a distinctive laugh as he tells stories and cracks jokes. Al was a musician who played in movie studio orchastras. Cliff recounts his spiritual journey. How he was overdosed with religion in his youth but came to believe in his own Higher Power in recovery.
The sound quality is good especially considering the 1963 vintage of the recording. Both recovery stories are excellent.
